Don’t ever say you can’t go on a mission trip for financial reasons—if you or your friends can bake, that is. Lara Hochstetler (WIM Missionary 276) funded her entire trip through the baking and selling of cinnamon rolls.
She is a third-year student at the Bethel School of Supernatural Ministry in Redding, CA, and was invited to travel to Pemba, Mozambique, to serve Iris Ministries which was established by Rolland and Heidi Baker in 1980. They focus on serving the poorest of the poor, establishing churches and discipling leaders. Since April last year, she felt the need to experience first-hand how Iris functions before she began her own journey in missions. She has been asked to serve and assist the leaders of the trip which she considers a great honor.
While home for the holidays, Lara with her mom, sister, and close friend, rolled up her sleeves and made over 1,680 (140 dozen) cinnamon rolls to raise funds for her trip. In case you wonder what half of that looks like, see the picture above. She had enough to pay off her trip, get all of her needed shots and meds, and support others on her team. Sweet.
