Barton joined WIM in 2021, after attending language school in Mexico in October 2020. He had the privilege of staying with two different Mexican families during that time. The Lord has called him to serve in the state of Oaxaca, Mexico. This state is known for having the most indigenous people groups in the country and being the second poorest state. He plans to go to Oaxaca for his two-year internship with WIM for missionary training. He’ll be living with the indigenous believers, serving in various ministries, and most importantly, learning from them. The goal of this training time is to have the tools necessary to establish other home fellowships which are run by the indigenous people, are self-propagating, and self-sufficient. His mission is to build home fellowships by discipling the indigenous people in their relationship with Jesus, teaching them to do the work of the ministry, take charge of it, and go out to teach others to do the same. He strives to continue to learn from the indigenous people, their language and culture, and to serve the people humbly in the name of Jesus.
